TORRANCE, CA — October 16, 2000 — LEDtronics announces a family of sunlight-visible Miniature Base LED Lamps that incorporate advanced optical-grade epoxy to produce illumination that is bright and evenly dispersed. LEDtronics Miniature Based LEDs are plug-compatible with illuminated switches and indicators from most major manufacturers.

Due to their solid-state construction, LEDtronics LEDs lamps are ideal for applications that are subjected to vibration, shock and environmental stress, all which reduce the life of incandescent lamps. LEDs feature almost instantaneous turn-on and turn-off without transients. Applications include indicators for process controls, aircraft instrumentation, elevator panels, automobile lighting, medical and scientific equipment, panel mount indicator lamps and other instances where long-lived, energy-efficient light sources are required. LED lamps last 30 - 50 times longer that the incandescent lamps they replace, and their low-current, high-efficiency operation delivers power savings of 80% - 90% or more.

Additionally, LED lamps produce little or no heat resulting in lighted panels and switches that are cool-to-the-touch unlike those lit by incandescent lamps. LED lamps can be supplied for all common indicator supply voltages from 5V to 120V DC or AC (50-400Hz). These products feature built-in current-limiting resistors and polarity-protection diodes to assure that circuit modifications are not required. Choose from nine standard LED colors (red, orange, amber, yellow, lime-yellow, green, pure-green, blue and white). Direct replacements are available for the most popular incandescent lamps.

Unique configurations of bi-color, blinking, infrared, ultra-bright or very low current LEDs are available by special order. Standard packages are: T1 (3mm) submidget flange, bi-pin, T1-1/2 (4.5mm) midget wedge, T1-3/4 (5mm) flange, Groove S6 screw and bi-pin bases.

A typical LED lamp provides an intense beam of colored light. The viewing angle depends on the shape of the epoxy lens and the LED chip’s position within the epoxy lens. Colored lenses or filters are not needed since LED lamps emit colored light. The intensity and wavelength remain stable over the lamp’s lifetime of 100,000-plus hours. (That’s 30-50 times longer than incandescent bulbs!) Additionally, Miniature Based LED lamps are environmentally friendly because they use 80% to 90% less operating power than standard incandescent bulbs. Think of the savings from reduced power usage, maintenance costs and less machine and operator downtime!
