a new series of clear or diffused, colored, subminiature surface mount
axial LEDs designed for limited space applications. These solid state
LEDs, designated
the SML080 Series, are configured with their leads formed in either gull-wing,
yoke and/or Z- bend configurations for PC board mounting. The low profile
package allows these SMT LEDs to easily fit into the tightest space in
critical designs for a variety of backlighting applications.
The LEDs designated as SML080CX5B (clear) and SML080TX5B (diffused) come
in a wide spectrum of colors including: Red (635nm), Yellow (585nm), Green
(565nm) and Blue (470nm). The diffused LEDs provide a wide viewing angle
of 90 degrees with a high turn on/off contrast ratio while the clear LEDs
provide a high luminous intensity ranging from 9mcd to 75 mcd at a forward
current of 10ma. Ledtronics also makes possible packages that include Ultra
Red, Ultra Green, Super Bright Yellow, Super Bright Blue and Super Bright
Orange colors.
The SML080 Series is auto-insertable from tape and reel and can be mounted
with the use of reflow soldering. The LEDs are packaged in 1,500 piece per
industry standard 7-inch reel. These devices are also available in bulk.
In addition to being shock and vibration resistant, the LEDs weather unusually
high temperatures extremely well.
Priced at $0.41 each (gull-wing) in a 1,500 piece industry standard 7-inch
reel, the SML080 LED Series is available in production quantities in 45-60
days with samples and/or prototype quantities available to qualified customers
in 2 weeks.
