TORRANCE, CA — December 6, 2002 — LEDtronics® announces its newest line of Infrared Discrete LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) that fulfill
the demand for high-powered, high-speed emitters in wireless connectivity,
imaging systems and analysis equipment. These LEDs use advanced semi-conductor
compounds to produce infrared emissions in the wavelengths of 850nm, 880nm
and 940nm. Sizes available are T1 (3mm), T1-3/4 (5mm) and SMT (3.4mm x 8mm).
T1 (3mm) and T13/4 (5mm) LEDs come with strong leads that hold up to the
stress of wire-wrap and through-hole applications. The SMT model is packaged
in a plastic housing that allows infrared functionality to be incorporated
into miniature-sized electronic devices. The T1 model has an 18°-angle
of emission. T1-3/4 infrared LEDs are available in two emission angles:
(1) 40° medium and (2) 20° standard. The SMT model has an emission
angle of 120°. IR LEDs extend the functionality of unmanned transportation
systems, further interactive communication between remote devices, and strengthen
the impervious nature of fiber optic systems.
Infrared LEDs are ideal light sources for use with night vision goggles,
surveillance cameras, medical imaging, recognition and calibration systems.
Due to their resistance to ambient-light impediments and electromagnetic
interference (EMI), Infrared LEDs enhance the performance of wireless computer-to-PDA
links, collision avoidance systems, automation equipment, biomedical instrumentation,
telecommunications equipment. Solid-state design renders Infrared LEDs impervious
to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental
extremes. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), Infrared
LEDs operate reliably year-after-year.
Founded in 1983, LEDtronics® leads where others only follow when it
comes to designing, manufacturing and packaging state-of-the-art LEDs to
meet the world's constantly changing lighting needs. Our inventive product
line encompasses an array of direct incandescent lamp replacement Based
LEDs, low-cost snap-in and relampable Panel Mount LEDs, high intensity sunlight-visible
Discrete LEDs, PCB LEDs circuit board status indicators, surface mount diodes
SMT LEDs, full-spectrum rainbow RGB LEDs and Infra-Red (IR) LEDs.
Prices for Infrared Discrete LEDs range from $0.26 - $1.87 each in quantity
of 1,000 depending on the technology. Availability is stock to 4 - 6
weeks for special requirements. For qualified customers, samples are available
to meet your design requirements. For additional information on how to
