A new discrete 5mm (T1½) standard dome aqua-green LED has been launched by LEDtronics. The water-clear lens, 525nm aqua-green LED with narrow 15 degree viewing angle integrates an Indium gallium nitride (InGaN) diode with optical grade epoxy to produce a 28,000mcd illumination at 20mA that is visible even in direct sunlight, says the company.

The LD200-0AG-15D is a 'next-generation' LED that fully illuminates many different types of applications. They can be used as individual pixels in a large dot matrix screen, full colour screens, moving signs, displays, mini lamps, standard electrical based bulbs, theatre décor, push-button switches, telecommunications data products, medical equipment lighting, backlighting and more.

Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching, and environmental extremes. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LED lamps operate more than 20 times longer than the equivalent incandescent lamp. Savings from reduced maintenance costs and downtime quickly return the capital investment expenditure. LED lamps produce almost no heat and require 80% - 90% less operating POWER than equivalent incandescents, making them as friendly to the environment as they are to the operating budget, says the company.
