T8/Bi-pin LED Lighting Tubes
30-JUN-09

TORRANCE, Calif., June 30, 2009 – Energy-efficient T8/bi-pin LED lighting tubes are the latest fluorescent-replacement LED lighting products announced by LEDtronics Inc. in its “green” technology lineup. The LED48T8-288-001W series bi-pin LED fits into standard G13 bases and is designed to directly replace the conventional T8 fluorescent tubes that provide general lighting for commercial, residential and architectural applications.

The 48-in.-long white tubes provide the equivalent light output of 24- to 32-W fluorescent lamps, while consuming less than 19 W, maximum. The tubes run on a wide voltage range from 100 to 290 VAC.

The lamps offer an operating life of >50,000 h as compared to the 10,000 to 18,000 h offered by conventional fluorescent lamps. Because the LED lights produce so little wasted heat, the temperature inside the fixture does not build up as it does with fluorescent tubes. The sturdy construction of a UV-resistant polycarbonate housing over the LED tube provides increased protection (no glass to break) and shielding against many environmental effects, allowing the LEDs to be placed in locations where typical lights would be more vulnerable to the elements.

The LEDs perform well in temperatures from -35 to 45 °C, making them suitable for use in applications subject to frequent on-off cycling, such as garages and basements, while the aluminum back cover improves heat dissipation and increases lifetime. They deliver up to 1342 lm at a color temperature of 5000 K (pure daylight white) and 1072 lm at 3000 K (warm white), compared to the average 810 lm for equivalent fluorescent tubes. They provide a maximum brightness of up to 429 foot candela across a 114° beam pattern, with a color rendering index of 80.

A solid-state design renders the LEDs impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes, reducing maintenance costs and downtime. They are RoHS- and CE-compliant and compatible with the international “dark skies” initiative. They emit no infrared or ultraviolet radiation.

The tube lights are supplied in warm white and pure daylight white, and other viewing angles, tube lengths and LED colors are available for OEM customers.
