TORRANCE, Calif., Aug. 15, 2007 -- LEDtronics Inc. said its newest generation of PAR20 LED short-neck light bulbs are direct incandescent replacement bulbs combining advanced LED technologies, standard 25-mm Edison screw bases and light-optimizing designs to produce vivid light.

PAR20 LED bulbs are available in three light-emitting angles (15°, 20° and 22°) and in 120-V AC. Other voltages from 12 to 240 V, AC or DC, are available. The bulbs measure 3.5 in. long and have a 2.53-in. diameter, making them ideal for small spotlighting tasks, artwork accenting, and recessed lighting for ambient illumination, LEDtronics said.

The standard colors available are warm white and xwarm white (3000 K), cool white (7000 K), super red (633 nm) and aqua green (525 nm). Other LED colors, as well as infrared lamps, are offered for qualified customers and quantities.

With up to 11 years of LED operating life and five sunlight-visible LED light colors available, solid-state PAR20 LED bulbs are a practical and economical way for architects, retail store display creators, entertainment designers and other lighting professionals to integrate ornamental illumination into maintenance-intensive applications, LEDtronics said.

Another attractive feature of LED cluster lamps is that they continue to provide light even if one or more emitters fail -- unlike when the filament breaks inside incandescent bulbs. LEDtronics' PAR20 LED bulbs are designed to perform well in systems subjected to voltage dips or surges. Integrated current-limited resistors ensure that no circuit modifications are required.

Colored lenses or filters are not needed since LEDs emit colored light that is determined by the composition of the semiconductor material comprising the diode. Intensity and color remain stable over the lamp's lifetime. LED technology is an energy-efficient directional light source; saving 80-90 percent of energy costs compared to a 30- or 50-W incandescent. Because LEDs use very little energy, produce little-to-no heat, and are virtually maintenance free, the cost savings are substantial, LEDtronics said.

Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching, and environmental extremes. The bulbs have an average lifespan of up to 100,000 hours (11 years) -- up to 50,000 hours for white LEDs.

PAR20 LED bulbs can be used for decorative task lighting and nighttime applications including tracklight fixtures, reading lights, and small ceiling cans, LEDtronics said. Other applications include large message panels, billboards, scoreboards, time-and-temperature signs, arcade machines, casino accent illumination, and lighting for stages, theaters, carnivals, theme parks and amusement parks. PAR20 LED bulbs can be used as individual pixels in large dot-matrix screens, digital time/temperature signs or full-color display screens.

Prices for PAR20 LED bulbs, which have a three-year warranty, range from $84 to $129.60 per bulb, depending on LED technology and LED color. Large quantity discounts are available; availability is stock to 4-6 weeks.
