| I am a member of VROC (Vulcan Riders and
Owners Association, www.vroc.org) and I love my motorcycle. I am always
looking at quality ways of improving its looks and power. As with most
motorcyclists I have the CLAP (Chrome, Leather, and Power disease!). The
addition of your brake lights fit the functionality of the bike very
nicely.
I have installed and tested the LEDtronics 1157 Brake/License Plate
light. The install was very simple, just remove two screws from the lens
cover and swap out the old bulbs for new LEDs.
My first impression was "WOW, these are cool!" I was really
impressed with the instant ON and OFF the LEDs have over regular
incandescent bulbs. They seem to be just as bright as the stock bulbs
and have added benefits such as using less voltage and lasting way
longer, especially with the vibration of the bike.
I have a comparison picture of the lights side by side as well as
strictly the LEDs at idle. You can see that there is not a lot if
difference in the light produced from stock to LED. |
| With my bike being a cruiser, I tend to idle
around more often than I drive at higher RPMs. I have noticed that with
the stock bulbs the charging system had a problem keeping up with the
electrical load. This would even get more compounded if running
additional driving lights. The LED lights keep the bike happy when at
idle and eliminate my worry of draining the battery.
The only disadvantage that I can see with the brake lights is that
the rider does not get to enjoy them like all of the cars behind do! I
may want to look into getting LED signal lights as well so that I can
enjoy the crisp flash of the LEDs.
All in all the LEDtronics 1157 light is a great addition to the bike.
It adds extra safety, lowers power consumption and lasts for a very long
time. It would be nice to see the manufacturers of bikes introduce LED
lights into their new models.
