Silicon Carbide/Gallium Nitride (SiC/GaN) diode with optical grade epoxy

and sturdy leads for reliability in wire-wrap/through-hole PCB applications.
Its solid-state design renders LED imperious to electrical and mechanical
shock, vibration, frequent switching, and environmental extremes. Average
life is 100,000+ hr (11 yr).

TORRANCE, CA - April 10, 2002 - LEDtronics(R) announces its new 3mm (T1)
White Discrete LED (Light Emitting Diode) that maximizes the creative options
available to engineers and designers. (LEDtronics part number L120CW3KB-22D.)
This water-clear, 8000K 3mm (T1) White LED integrates a Silicon Carbide/Gallium
Nitride (SiC/GaN) diode with optical grade epoxy to produce a 3500mcd illumination
at 20mA that is visible even in direct sunlight. The 3mm (T1) LED features
a 22 deg viewing angle and sturdy leads for reliability in wire-wrap/through-hole
PCB applications.
Solid-state design renders LEDs imperious to electrical and mechanical
shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. With an
average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), 3mm LEDs operate reliably
year after year and appropriate for many applications. They can be used
as individual pixels in a large dot matrix screen, full color screens,
moving signs and displays. More diverse applications for 3mm LEDs include
light color synthesis. Other applications include medical imaging and biomedical
instrumentation, tele-/data-communication equipment, cellular telephones,
PDAs, machine vision systems, and color recognition and calibration systems
- any application that requires a bright reliable LED.
