Crescent Bargraph LEDs Add Star Appeal to Dull Display

TORRANCE, CA — July 28, 1999 — Continuing to expand the LED universe, LEDtronics® announces today the availability of new Crescent Bargraph LEDs. Featuring 15 LEDs arranged in a graceful semi-circle, Crescent Bargraph LEDs add visual appeal to mundane displays such as temperature gauges, automotive instrument panels, volume levels, ultraviolet meters, audio/video indicators, etc. . . .

Crescent Bargraphs LEDs operate between 565 – 660 nanometers (Ultra-Red = 660, High-Efficiency Red = 635, Yellow = 585, High-Efficiency Green = 565) at 10mA. These compact bargraph LEDs are available in any Red, Green Yellow color combination with brightness characteristics ranging from 4.5 – 8.0 typical mcd at 25° C depending on the color of the LED. For each LED in the package, there is a single common contact point for negative (Cathode) and one contact point for each LED positive (Anode) for a total of 16 leads.

Crescent Bargraph assemblies may be configured with LEDs of a single color or with LEDs of several colors. Standard colors available are Ultra-Red, High-Efficiency Red, Yellow and High-Efficiency Green, but custom colors (Orange, Pure Green and Blue) that may better complement your design may be ordered. All colors are sunlight visible. Lenses are diffused. Also, the segment color is white when powered off. These multi-colored LED bargraphs enable the integration of low powered, evenly diffused, compact module displays into user interfaces.

Solid-state design renders Crescent LED Bargraphs impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. Crescent LED Bargraphs are excellent choices for a wide range of display, fault or status indicators that require easy-to-read measurements such as readouts that indicate low, safe and overfilled conditions. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), Crescent LED Bargraph displays operate reliably year after year. That’s more than 10-20 times longer than incandescent bulbs! Additionally, Crescent LED Bargraphs are environmentally friendly because they use 80% to 90% less operating power than standard incandescent bulbs.
