TORRANCE, CA — October 5, 1999 — LEDtronics announces a family of sunlight-visible
Wedge Based Direct Incandescent Replacement LED cluster lamps that are plug-compatible
for fragile, short-lived incandescent lamps. These innovative LED products
replace standard wedge-based incandescent lamps in miniature switches, indicators,
annunciators and other applications where complete compatibility, durability
and efficiency are needed. LED cluster lamps last 10 - 20 times longer than
the incandescent lamps they replace, and their low-current, high-efficiency
operation delivers power savings of 80% - 90% or more.
These LEDtronics® products are ideal for 2-4 lamp lighted push-button switches
where vibration, shock and heat reduce the service life of incandescent
lamps. LED clusters are solid-state devices that feature very fast turn-on
and turn-off times without transients. A typical Wedge base LED cluster
draws 15-20mA compared to the 40-60mA required by a miniature incandescent
lamp.
Wedge Based LED lamps are plug-compatible with illuminated switches and
indicators from most major manufacturers. Wedge based LED lamps are available
for all common indicator voltages from 5V to 120V DC or AC (50-400Hz). The
products feature built-in current-limiting resistors and polarity-protection
diodes to assure that circuit modifications are not required. Choose from
nine standard LED colors (red, orange, amber, yellow, lime-yellow, green,
pure-green, blue and white) and a variety of voltage ratings. Direct replacements
are available for the most popular wedge-based incandescent lamps (17, 18,
37, 56, 73, 74, 79, 84, 85, 86 etc.). Unique configurations of bi-color,
blinking, infrared, ultra-bright or very low current LEDs are available
by special order.
Miniature wedge based LED lamps T1-3/4 (5mm) package profile range from
.70-inches (17.78mm) long to .230-inches high (5.842mm) and .80-inches (20.33mm)
long and .230-inches high (5.842mm).
Solid-state design renders Wedge Based LEDs impervious to electrical and
mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes.
A typical LED cluster lamp contains one to six solid-state emitters arranged
to provide an intense beam of colored light. The emitter arrangement provides
a very wide viewing angle or 160 degrees (spherical). Unlike a single-filament
bulb, an LED cluster lamp continues to provide illumination even if one
or more of the multichip emitters fail. Colored lenses or filters are not
needed since LED cluster lamps emit colored light. The intensity and wavelength
remain stable over the lamp’s lifetime of 100,000-plus hours. (That’s
10-20 times longer than incandescent bulbs!) Additionally, Wedge Based LEDs
are environmentally friendly because they use 80% to 90% less operating
power than standard incandescent bulbs. Think of the savings from reduced
power usage, maintenance costs and less downtime!
Founded in 1983, LEDtronics® leads where others only follow when it comes
to designing, manufacturing and packaging state-of-the-art LEDs to meet
the world’s constantly changing lighting needs. Our inventive product
line encompasses an array of direct incandescent lamp replacement Based
LEDs, low-cost snap-in and relampable Panel Mount LEDs, high intensity sunlight-visible
Discrete LEDs, PCB LEDs circuit board status indicators, surface mount diodes
SMT LEDs, full-spectrum rainbow RGB LEDs and Infra-Red (IR) LEDs.
Samples are available to qualified customers. A 28VDC Red polarized version
is priced at $2.89 per unit in 1000 piece quantity. Data sheets are available.
