TORRANCE, CA - May 4, 1998 - The next generation 8x8 dot matrix of RGB LEDs which
makes possible sturdy, fast-moving animated signage in up to 256 high-ambient-intensity
colors, has been introduced by LEDtronics®, Inc.
The new RainbowLED Flat-Top Tile Array unit consists of 64 red, green and
blue (RGB) LED lamps. Each diode in these lamps can be addressed separately
or collectively. This new, low-cost, high-quality array is capable of superior
color rendition of white light as well as precise control of color throughout
the spectrum, including neons, pastels and fluorescents. This array is ideal
for full color moving display screens, large message panels, decorative
displays, vending machines and gaming machines, as well as instrument panels
and test equipment - virtually all display signs requiring animation. The
array is PCB mountable, with 32 pins, making possible the precise control
of the light patterns.
The LEDtronics® RGB LEDs used in the array incorporate state of the
art chip mounting technology that dissipates heat in closely spaced chip
arrays. They offer rapid on/off response times, making them perfect for
fast-changing animation. As with all LEDtronics® LEDs, they are very
reliable, with an average life of 100,000 hours or more, and offer high
intensity with low power consumption. These LEDs are solid-state and are
resistant to shock and vibration.
The RainbowLED Flat-Top Array is a flat package and very light weight. The
dimensions are 2 inches wide x 2 inches long, with a 0.366 inch tile height.
Per unit price is $74.25 in 1,000 piece quantity. The array is available
in production quantities in 4-6 weeks with samples and/or prototype quantities
available to qualified customers with a one week lead time.
