TORRANCE, CA — September 2, 1997 — A new line of ultra-low-profile pathlights offering direct replacements for incandescent bulbs in safety and emergency applications has been introduced by LEDtronics®, Inc.

The PLT Pathlight Series are flexible, solid state LEDs which provide directional lighting for steps, stairways, stairwells and walkways. They are also used to identify and mark manufacturing, storage and equipment areas. They can be cut to any length, and supplied with a water-clear cover and snap-in base with a UL rating of 94V-0.

LEDtronics®’ high-impact resistant, polycarbonate carriers are flexible enough for almost any installation. The ultra-low-profile carrier base can be nailed, glued, screwed, or attached with Velcro, and is flexible enough to mount to almost any surface. The splashproof carrier design protects the Pathlight LED from chemical spills, bumps, pedestrian traffic and normal industrial equipment as well as from smoke and water in emergency situations. In case of power outages, Pathlight LEDs can continue to operate if supplied externally with a low-power, rechargeable, back-up power supply.

These flexible, solid state LEDs offer controllable intensity. The PLT-1001 full intensity LED Pathlights are easily controlled remotely by potentiometers or logic controllers, and lux levels can be remotely controlled in various production areas. The PLT-1002 Series is preset to the lowest intensity safelight level for light-sensitive applications and is not adjustable.

Spacing options for the LED Pathlights are 3, 6, and 12 inches, with custom spacing configurations available. The LEDs are connected in parallel and function independently ¾ if one LED is not functioning, the remaining LEDs continue to work. Standard voltages range from 2V to 28V with custom voltages available, and the LEDs can be connected in combinations to supply additional voltages. LEDtronics®’ Pathlights come in a variety of colors including Hi-efficiency Red and Green, Ultra Red, Orange, Amber Yellow, Lime Yellow, and Deep Green. Using the latest chip technology of Indium Gallium and Gallium Nitride, LEDtronics® also offers these lamps in ultra bright colors of Orange, Yellow, Green, and Blue.

The PLT Series features a 140 degree viewing angle, excellent visibility and viewing distance, high illumination, and ease of replacement. These LEDs can withstand high shock and vibration and hostile environments that incandescent bulbs cannot tolerate.

Depending on color, typical pricing ranges from $6.00 to $12.00 per foot, in 1,000 foot rolls. The PLT Series is available in production quantities in 45-60 days with samples and/or prototype quantities available to qualified customers in 1-2 weeks.
