TORRANCE, CA — June 30, 1997 — A new generation of ultra-bright
LEDs offering easy replacement for many lighted push-button switches
used in critical avionic applications has been introduced by LEDtronics®,
Inc. These LEDs can also be used in control panels, high quality commercial
and industrial controls, and in military ground support equipment.
The F12X Series Grain-of-Wheat T1 (3mm) sub-midget flange Based LED lamps
utilize the latest Indium Gallium and Indium Nitride chip technology to
provide increased luminous intensity. They are designed to replace T1 incandescents
#682, #685, #714, #718, #6839, #7240, #7241, #7880, and #8022, among many
others.
Unlike the filament lamps they replace, the Grain-of-Wheat LED lamps
are very reliable, with an average life of 100,000 hours or more and have
a much lower heat emission. They are resistant to shock and vibration and
have the ability to withstand continuous turn-on/turn-off cycles. In addition,
they illuminate surfaces evenly with no hot spots. The pure spectrum of
light is suitable for the new government requirements for aircraft secure
light and aircraft night vision, which require very low or no infrared emission
in some instrumentation illumination applications.
The F12X Series can be configured to use a single chip (dome or flat-top)
or multi-chip (2-chip or 4-chip) LED. The LED lamps can be specified in
voltages ranging from 2 to 28 VDC and operating currents ranging from 10ma
to 20ma. The lamps are offered in a number of colors including the ultra
bright colors of Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and White. Depending on color,
single chip F120 or FF120 (flat top) pricing ranges from $3.80 to $9.50
in the 100 piece quantity. The F12X Series is available in production quantities
in 30-45 days with samples and/or prototype quantities available to qualified
customers in one to two weeks.
