New light-emitting diode (LED) illuminators from LEDtronics, Torrance, Calif.,
are aimed at applications requiring the light source to be perpendicular to
the display plane. The RAB362 right-angle, single-level LEDs measure 0.362-in.
(9.19-mm) long, 0.043-in. (1.09-mm) wide and 0.059-in (1.5-mm) high. A bi-pin
design enhances stability for status indicator alignment. The units are available
in "ultra sunlight visible" and "standard intensity" versions.
Dual-Chip, Right-Angle Discrete LED Lamps Make PDA's Reflective Displays
and Keypads Easier to View
LEDtronics introduces Series RAB362 LED (Light Emitting Diode) illuminators
for back- and edgelighting applications. Featuring two diode chips, RAB362 LEDs
deliver exceptional illumination to make displays, keypads and legends easier
to read while preserving the lightweight, compact nature of portable electronic
devices. RAB362 LEDs offer a longer operating life, superior brightness, lower
voltage operation, and less heat emissions when compared with alternative backlighting
sources. These right angle, single-level LEDs are designed for applications
where the design requires the light source to be perpendicular to the display
plane. RAB362 LEDs measure x 0.362-inches (9.19mm) long x 0.043-inches (1.09mm)
wide x 0.059-inches (1.5mm) high. The bi-pin design provides the stability necessary
to align status indicators precisely. Series RAB362 LEDs expand the options
available for backlighting personal desktop accessories, cellular telephones,
keypads, palm pilots, data communication equipment, active thin-film transistor
(TFT) LCDs, display legends, etc.
Series RAB362 LEDs are available in two versions: (1) Ultra Sunlight Visible
and (2) Standard Intensity. Both versions feature water-clear lenses and 120°
angles. Ultra Sunlight Visible comes in ultra red (660nm, 80mcd at 20mA), super
red (630nm, 140mcd at 20mA), super orange (611nm, 120mcd at 20mA), super yellow
(595nm, 80mcd at 20mA), super green (574nm. 60mcd at 20mA), aqua green (525nm,
45mcd at 20mA), and super blue (470nm, 40mcd at 20mA). Standard Intensity LEDs
are available in ultra red (660nm, 80mcd at 25mA) high-efficiency red (635nm,
12.5mcd at 25mA), yellow (585nm, 10.0mcd at 25mA) and high-efficiency green
(567nm, 11.0mcd at 25mA).
With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LED lamps operate
more than 20 times longer than the equivalent incandescent lamp! Solid-state
design renders LEDs impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental
extremes. Savings from reduced maintenance costs and downtime quickly return
the investment expenditure, which are important factors to consider when evaluating
the financial aspects of installing LED lamps. LED lamps produce almost no heat
and require 80% - 90% less operating power than equivalent incandescents, making
them as friendly to the environment as they are to the operating budget.
Founded in 1983, LEDtronics® leads where others only follow when it comes
to designing, manufacturing and packaging state-of-the-art LEDs to meet the
world's constantly changing lighting needs. Our inventive product line encompasses
an array of direct incandescent lamp replacement Based LED Lamps, low-cost snap-in
and relampable LED Lamps, high intensity sunlight-visible Discrete LEDs, PCB
LEDs circuit board status indicators, surface mount diode SMT LEDs, full-spectrum
rainbow RGB LEDs and Infra-Red (IR) LEDs.
Prices for Series RAB362 LED Lamps range from $0.75 - $4.95 each in quantities
of 100 or more depending on LED technology.
